Vaccinations and medical advice for overseas travel

When overseas you are at risk of diseases not found in Australia. You should visit your doctor or a travel vaccine clinic to get vaccinated against infectious diseases. Travel vaccinations keep you safe while holidaying outside Australia.

It is important to see your doctor at least one month before you travel overseas. This is because vaccinations can take up to four weeks to become effective.

Travel vaccinations

We offer all travel vaccinations recommended by the Australian government. AccessHC have most of standard travel vaccinations in stock. GPs can give you a prescription for any non-standard requests.

Vaccines last for different amounts of time, with boosters needed. Australian standards for travel vaccines are available here.

Travel health consultations

In a travel consultation you get advice on what to do to minimise risk of illness while overseas. Depending on where you travel you may need vaccinations and medication.  What vaccinations you need depend on:

• Pregnancy status
• Medical conditions
• Vaccination history
• Locaction
• Season of travel.

A travel consultation at AccesHC includes more than vaccinations. It covers what you need to know to enjoy your holiday and reduce the risk of illness. Your doctor will discuss potential risks, the vaccinations and medication you may need. A nurse will then administer the vaccinations.

Standard consultation fees apply. The cost of vaccines attract out-of-pocket cost depending on the vaccine.
